The 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture, reviewed on a Sony Bravia Z9D 4K Ultra HD HDR display, upconverted to 2160p with greater resolution and luminance, was animated digitally and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. Picture quality is superb. The color palette is strongly saturated and exhibits warm and rich hues. Colors pop and exhibit wonderful nuances of hue shadings. Contrast is excellent. Blacks are deep and solid. Shadow shading is excellent, White levels appear natural. Resolution is incredible. Fine texture are vivid. The finest detail is exhibited in whiskers and fur, even n the texture of paper. This is a incredibly color and dimensional animated feature with a wide gamut of hues and outstanding resolution. The family will be enthralled with the animation and visual spectacle as well as comedic storytelling. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with punchy sound effects. The music score is diverse with an effective range of sonics including rhythmic drumming effects, The soundstage is wide and deep and extends aggressively to the four surrounds. Surround envelopment is very aggressive and energizes every channel. At times, deep bass extends to sub-25 Hz and provides an effective foundation throughout. Foley sound effects are precise and diverse. ADR dialogue is perfectly synchronized with the animation and is intelligible throughout. Fidelity is excellent throughout.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised solely of an extension of the music, which is effective because there is so much of it throughout, and the extension to the height layer enhances the dimensionality of the soundtrack.
This is an engaging soundtrack that is active throughout and dynamic sounding with a very fun dialogue track. (Gary Reber)
