In "The Old Way," Colton Briggs (Nicholas Cage) is a cold-blooded gunslinger turned respectable family man. When an outlaw and his gang put Colton and his family in peril, Colton is forced to take up arms with an unlikely partner — his 12-year-old daughter (Ryan Kiera Armstrong). (Gary Reber)

Special features include commentary by Director Brett Donowho, commentary by Composer Andrew Morgan Smith, a behind-the-scenes featurette (HD 13:49), a scoring sessions featurette (HD 08:54) and a digital copy.

The 2.39:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the Arri Alexa camera system and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. Shot in Montana locations, the picture exhibits a natural appearance with an earthly color palette of browns, greens and grays evident in the landscape and the towns of the era. Flesh tones appear natural and realistic Contrast is generally good with natuarl black levels, revealing shadows and natural light levels. Resolution is generally good with good textural definition in the landscapes and town structures. With presentation's excellent production this is a well crafted Western that is very satisfying. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack has a quite active music score with good stage presence and surround envelopment. Gun shots sound realistic. Foley sound effects enhance the realism of the movements of people and horses. Atmospherics and sound effects provide generally good surround envelopment, particularly throughout the outdoor scenes. Dialogue is intelligible though ADR dialogue spatial integration sounds a bit forward. This is a realistic soundtrack with good atmospherics and realistic sound effects. (Gary Reber)
