The 2.39:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally and sourced from a 2K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture exhibits a dreamy color palette with subdued brownish-gray hues. Dust elements appear in numerous scenes visible through paths of light in the interiors. Flesh tones are perfectly natural. Contrast is subdued with soft highlights, revealing shadows and natural black levels. Resolution is superb with all manner of object textural detail, as well as clothing and facial features. This is a great looking presentation with elaborate production design and textural features. The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with lots of sound effects during the action scenes comprised of the sound of swords clashing and unique mechanical sounds, as well as destructive mayhem, Explosion sound effects deliver deep bass. Foley sound effects are excellent. Atmospherics sound realistic. Surround envelopment is aggressive and often directionalized. The orchestral score is quite active and occupies a wide and deep soundstage with aggressive enveloping extension to the surrounds. The Chinese dialogue (with English subtitles) sounds natural with good spatial integration. This is a holosonic® action dominant experience that is well crafted. (Gary Reber)
