    "Inland Empire" features a tour de force performance from Laua Dern as an actor on the edge. This nightmare tumbles down an endless series of unfathomably interconnected rabbit holes as it takes viewers on a hallucinatory odyssey into the deepest realms of the unconscious mind. (Gary Reber)

    Special features include two films from 2007, "Ballerina" short film (HD 20:21), a new conversation between Actors Laura Dern and Kyle MacLactian (HD 31.46), "More Thing That Happened" extra scenes (HD 01:14:58), reading by Lynch of excerpts from his 2018 book "Room To Dream" (HD 15:08), excerpts from Richard A. Barney's book "David Lynch: Interviews" and the trailer. There is also a 28-page book.

    The 1.85:1 1080p picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in standard definition using the Sony DSR-PD150 camera system and sourced from a new 4K master that was supervised and approved by David Lynch. While the 1080p resolution is not the film's native resolution, the picture generally looks good. Color fidelity varies with scenes but is generally natural in realism. Resolution is generally good, sans darker scenes, and excellent during closeups. Contrast is well balanced with deep blacks, revealing shadows and bright highlights.     The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused and very much monaural sounding, as is the 2.0 LPCN stereo track that is included. Both were remastered in 2022 by David Lynch and original recording mixers Dean Hurley and Ron Eng. Overall, the sonics are satisfying but limited in dimensionality. (Gary Reber)
