The 1.85:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 4K Ultra HD Dolby Vision/HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, photographed on 35 mm film stock using the Panavision Panaflex Platinum camera systems and sourced from a newly restoration in 4K master Digital Intermediate format by Arrow Films. Film grain is smooth and generally not objectionable. The color palette exhibits saturated hues that jump off the screen. Primaries pop such as blood reds. Flesh tones appear perfectly natural. The entire color palette is vivid. The production design is imaginative and at times stylistic. The war segments project realistic uniform green. HDR contrast is excellent with deep black levels, revealing shadows and bright white levels. Resolution, especially during closeups, is revealing of fine detail in facial features such as skin pores, lines, and hair. Of course, monster figures and gory flesh are finely resolved. Object textures appear natural and realistic, Costumes reveal fabric texture. Overall, this is an appealing looking film that that will excite fans. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with good fidelity heard in the orchestral recording and sound effects. The music extends wide and deep across the soundstage and provides effective surround envelopment. Sound effects are dynamic sounding. Bass enhancement is deep at times but not always supportive of the intense sound effects, leaving them sounding thin. such as explosions. Dialogue is intelligible with good spatial integration. This is an effectively dynamic holosonic® soundtrack. (Gary Reber)
