In "Wolf Man," seeking a fresh start, Blake (Christopher Abbott) moves his wife Charlotte (Julia Garner) and daughter Ginger (Matilda Firth) to his childhood home in rural Oregon. Upon arrival, they encounter a brutal animal attack, forcing the family to barricade themselves inside the house as an unseen creature prowls the perimeter. As the night wears on, Blake's injuries worsen, and his bizarre behavior turns monstrous. To protect her daughter, Charlotte must decide whether to confront the danger outside or the growing horror within. (Gary Reber)

The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally in anamorphic Panavision® using the Arri Alexa Mini LF camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture appears general natural though dark scenes, which are prominent, can lack shadow delineation and resolution. Color fidelity in better lit conditions appears natural. There are few bright colors, mostly lighting. Flesh tones exhibit natural hues, even in darker scenes. HDR contrast is clamped down as the scenes are predominantly dark. Blacks appear natural, shadows lack definition, and light levels are soft and low level. Resolution is generally good, especially during closeups. This is a rather dark presentation with just mediocre resolution, but with increasingly frightful imagery. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby Atmos/dolby TureHD 7.1-channel soundtrack delivers powerfully haunting deep bass that can extend to sub-25 Hz, aided by the .1 LFE channel. The orchestral score also delivers a deep bass foundation and occupies a wide and deep soundstage that aggressively extends to the surrounds. Atmospherics sound realistic. Sound effects, which are dominant throughout, provide haunting soundscapes. Surrounds are exceptionally active with directional effects galore. Foley sound effects are active and convincing. Dialogue is intelligible with generally oood spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised of an aggressive extension of the orchestral score, strong sound effects such as thunder and loads of other frightening sounds, some effective atmospherics, subtle dialogue, Foley sound effects and more. This is an effective application of the heigh layer with strong amplitude sonics that enhance the sound field's spherical dimensionality.
This is an exciting holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack that is dynamic sounding with tremendous bass and directionalized aggressive surround energy that delivers the frights and chills. (Gary Reber)
