Immortals 3D

Immortals 3D is an epic tale of vengeance and destiny. Power-mad King Hyperion (Rourke) threatens to destroy all of humanity on his maniacal quest to obtain the ultimate weapon—the legendary Epirus Bow that gives the power to unleash war on both Heaven and Earth. But Theseus (Cavill), a heroic young villager chosen by the gods, rises up to stop Hyperion's brutal rampage. The 1080p MVC 3D conversion was created by Prime Focus (Mumbai) and Relativity 3D View D™ Design Team with additional 3D services by 3D Revolution and Mikros Image. According to the filmmakers, everything was designed for the 3D conversion. The result is a gorgeous cinematic 3D experience with impressive cinematography. Shot digitally with the Panavision Genesis camera system, the imagery is pristine. Resolution is exceptional, with clearly defined facial features, hair, clothing, and object texture, whether seen in medium or close-ups. The look is strikingly sharp and defined. The color palette is warmly hued with sun-drenched, bronze fleshtones and strong earthy primaries cast with a yellowish hue. Contrast at times is problematic, with black levels obscuring fine detail and shadow delineation veiled. While imagery shot natively exhibits generally impressive dimensionality, the picture doesn't suffer from a lack thereof. Contrarily, depth and perspective are impressive and naturally rendered, imparting a feeling of being within the midst of each scene or as an observer looking in. Crosstalk ghosting is completely absent. This is a first rate 3D conversion that, with the exception of the darkest segments, is an engaging and wondrous imaginative visual experience. (Gary Reber)

The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is a reference-quality holosonic® experience. The sound quality is dynamic, with all elements well recorded. The sound is really energized throughout, with a fantastic orchestral music score by Trevor Morris that is immersive and dimensional. Deep bass response is intense, to sub-25 Hz frequencies, and provides a solid foundation to the entire affair. Bass lovers will appreciate the power and range of the low frequencies. Dialogue is consistently intelligible, and while ADR centric, at times sounds convincingly integrated spatially. This is a wonderful, aggressively enveloping surround sound experience that will challenge the best home theatre systems. (Gary Reber)
