    Mother's Day is a graphic remake of the Troma horror classic. After a bank robbery gone wrong, three brothers go home to hide out...only to discover that their mother (De Mornay) lost their house in a foreclosure. The new owners and their party guests become the depraved brothers' unwitting hostages. Their sadistic mother soon arrives and takes control of the situation, ratcheting up the terror. As the hostages struggle desperately to survive the harrowing torture, they realize that there is nothing a mother won't do to protect her children.     The 2.40:1 1080p AVC picture exhibits a perfectly natural appearance, with a light grain structure that enhances the cinematic effect. The color palette is effectively saturated, and rich and warm primaries and fleshtones are naturally hued. Contrast is excellent, with deep blacks and revealing shadow delineation. Resolution is revealing of fine detail, especially in close-ups of facial figures, hair, clothing, and object texture. This is a good-looking presentation that won't disappoint. (Gary Reber)

    The Dolby® TrueHD 5.1-channel soundtrack is dialogue focused throughout, punctuated with a chamber-styled orchestral score and synthesizer. Atmospherics and sound effects during exterior scenes include a brewing tornado with deep, solid bass extension to sub-25 Hz frequencies. This provides an enveloping sense of surround along with the music. Overall, this is a creepy but supportive soundtrack that sounds dynamic when appropriate, and works well to enhance the nightmarish story. (Gary Reber)

    I primarily read WSR for unbiased information concerning the future of HD DVD. Articles are written in such a way that the average consumer can understand the technology and benefits of HD DVD. It's nice to be able to read articles from purist videophiles/audiophiles who clearly state their opinion on technologies/products with clear, understandable supporting information. When I read WSR, I have no doubt that the information within is complete and accurate. It's a publication I can TRUST!
