Based on the book by Marcus Luttrell with Patrick Robinson, Lone Survivor is the true story of heroism, courage, and survival. The incredible tale follows four Navy SEALs on a covert mission to neutralize a high-level Al-Qaeda operative. The four men must make an impossible moral decision in the mountains of Afghanistan that leads them into an enemy ambush. As they confront unthinkable odds, the SEALs must find reserves of strength and resilience to fight to the finish. (Gary Reber)

While the 2.39:1 1080p AVC picture was photographed with the Red Epic digital camera system, the imagery is impressively filmic with a rich, warm color palette and superb resolution. Hues are naturally balanced and reveal superb color clarity and shading. Green vegetation and earth tones are lifelike throughout. Red blood and explosions also are extremely realistic, as well as fleshtones. Resolution is exceptionally precise and revealing of the finest textures occurring in the Afghani terrain (actually New Mexico). Foliage, trees, and rocks are realistic, as well as the fine detail exhibited in facial features, hair, beards, clothing, uniforms, and military hardware and combat gear. Contrast is well balanced with deep blacks and revealing shadow delineation. The picture is stunning and visually engaging throughout, with reference-quality attributes. (Gary Reber)
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is wonderfully presented with a strong orchestral music score presence during the opening scenes and the sound of thunderous helicopter and aircraft engines, with deep, sub-25 Hz LFE energy that will challenge home theatre systems. It is unbelievably realistic during the extended firefight encounter with bullets hitting their human targets or ricocheting off of trees and rocks as they fly through the soundfield trailed by realistic echoes. Low-level sounds are impressively presented with incredible Foley effects and the sounds of a forested landscape. Rocket-propelled grenades whoosh through the soundfield as debris spreads out from the impact. Dialogue is impressively integrated spatially amidst the mayhem. Support effects and atmospherics enhance the realism. Dynamics and fidelity are exemplary throughout. This is an incredible holosonic® soundfield experience that is reference quality throughout.
