In the 1975 season, the Philadelphia Eagles were anything but Invincible, losing half of their games, yet their die-hard fans kept coming. And when first-time NFL coach Dick Vermeil (Kinnear) takes over the helm the following year and announces an open tryout, one such fan, Vince Papale (Wahlberg), takes it to the gridiron. With the support and cheers of his friends and father, and that of fellow bartender, Janet (Banks), he makes this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity a one-in-a-million reality. Special features include the same two audio commentaries found on the DVD reviewed in Issue 116 (the first with Vince Papale, Producer Mark Ciardi, and Writer Brad Gann, and the second with Director Ericson Core and Editor Jerry Greenberg), and the 26-minute story of Vince Papale. Additionally, there is a Movie Showcase, a seven-minute "Recreating 'The Vet'" featurette, and up-front ads.

The 2.35:1 Blu-ray Disc exhibits great depth of field, with deep blacks and good shadow delineation. While the color scheme does not look natural in any way, it does match the storytelling and represents the timeframe reasonably well. Details are delivered very well, for the most part, but can be occasionally soft. Source element artifacts are noticeable at times, but do not become too big of a distraction. (Danny Richelieu)

The uncompressed linear PCM 5.1-channel soundtrack features good fidelity and well-mixed music, but surround envelopment is generally lacking with respect to effects. Dialogue sounds natural, which is the standout of the release. (Danny Richelieu)
