    After a night of partying, Liz (Magrath), Kristy (Morassi), and Ben (Phillips), three attractive and fun-loving twenty-something year-olds, leave Broome, Australia, heading for Wolf Creek Meteorite Crater Reservation. Upon arrival and ensuing hike, they return to their car only to find their battery dead. Luckily (or unluckily, as fate may have it), they are rescued by local Mick (Jarratt), who not only can fix their car but give them a place to stay.     Special features include an eight-minute conversation with John Jarratt and those found on the SD DVD: audio commentary by director Greg McLean, co-producer Matt Hearn, and actresses Cassandra Magrath and Kestie Morassi; a 50-minute making-of featurette; a deleted scene; and the theatrical trailer.

    The 1.78:1 HD DVD picture can be striking, with beautiful shots of the varied Australian locales, but the image has a soft smoothness to it that limits fine details. Color fidelity is pristine, and black levels are deep. (Danny Richelieu)

    The Dolby® Digital Plus 5.1-channel soundtrack can be impressive, with deep, tight bass and pristine fidelity. The mix can ignore the surround channels, however, which, when it occurs, is disappointing. (Danny Richelieu)
