    He may have been "born a poor black child," but The Jerk (Martin) soon amassed millions (by inventing the Opti-Grab eyeglass handle), gained power, and earned the love of a beautiful woman (Peters)...and then just as quickly, lost it all. (Danny Richelieu)

    Special features are the same as those found on the DVD, which was reviewed in Issue 100, and include an interactive ukulele lesson, a four-minute continuation of Father Carlos "Las Vegas" De Cordova's filmstrip containing extended footage of the "great ugliness" that is spreading through his country, including Fish Teasing, Plant Abusing, and Pet Dressing. Also included is the theatrical trailer and the My Scenes feature.

    Like the 26th Anniversary DVD, the HD DVD's VC-1-encoded 1.85:1 picture shows signs of its age, with poorly defined colors (although greens can look good), washed-out blacks, and inadequate resolution. There are times when details are well resolved, but it is rare. While the source element does look clean, there are still artifacts and dirt. (Danny Richelieu)

    The Dolby® Digital Plus 5.1-channel soundtrack also shows signs of its age, with noticeable distortion in both music and dialogue. High-pitched ringing can also be heard at times throughout, and clipping distortion can be heard as well. (Danny Richelieu)
