Story Synopsis:
Final Analysis is a stylish, sexy thriller that emulates the complex psychological thriller of yesteryear. It was photographed in softly lit deep golden tones. I really liked the look of this transfer by Tom Scarpelli based on the look created by cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth.
LaserDisc Picture:
There are plenty of good looking transfers that probably do not look the way the movie was projected theatrically. They are a little too open on the bright side. The images here are almost hypnotic, perfectly balanced and consistent scene to scene. There are numerous beautifully photographed and moody climactic scenes of San Francisco Bay where the weather changes from bright and sunny to dark and rainy.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack, as is the stirring and suspenseful music score recording, is brilliant. I have never heard quite so real a rain storm as the thunder and lightening effects created in Dolby Surround®. It gave me the appropriate chills. The lighthouse catwalk scene at the film’s conclusion is perfect for a home theatre demonstration.
