WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
Creepshow is brought to you by George A. Romero and Stephen King, two masters of terror and the macabre. It is presented in comic book fashion, conjuring up five horrific yarns, each a virtuoso exercise in fright in the ghouls-and-gags style of classic ’50s comics. In the first tale, a murdered father emerges from the grave for Father’s Day demanding “I want my cake!” A meteor’s ooze makes everything...grow in another yarn. A professor feeds his wife as a snack for a crated creature is the third offering. And finally a scheming husband plants two lovers up to their necks in terror and a malevolent millionaire must confront his insect phobia.
LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is sharp and detailed, and the use color is interesting especially in the animated intros to each story sequence. Deep blacks and good shadow detail combine with good color fidelity and contrast, and fleshtones that are always natural looking. There is slight grain and noise artifacts in some scenes but otherwise overall pleasing.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is conventional movie sound with the occasional surround effect.
