Story Synopsis:
The Brave One is a poetic drama of a young boy and his pet bull based on the original screenplay “Eminio And His Pet Bull” by Dalton Trumbo. The film won an Academy Award® for best original story in 1956. The author for the original story was credited to one Robert Rich, who to the Academy’s embarrassment turned out not to exist. Dalton Trumbo—one of the infamous Hollywood 10, and blacklisted by the industry in 1947—revealed in 1959 that he was the original writer. Soon after the Academy revoked its amendment against prohibiting any blacklisted writer from accepting an Oscar®. Trumbo, while blacklisted, wrote 18 screenplays under various pseudonyms until 1960.

The scope 2.40:1 picture is quite natural in appearance with beautiful cinematography by Oscar®-winner Jack Cardiff.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The stereo soundtrack has a great orchestral score (his last) from one of the greatest composers in American cinema, Victor Young.
