WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
I Like It Like That is Darnell Martin’s debut movie which premiered as an official selection of the 1994 Cannes Film Festival. The story is about a Hispanic black woman (Lauren Velez) living in the Bronx who decides to change her unhappy life, which includes her three wild children, an adulterous husband (Jon Seda) and her transsexual-wannabe brother (Jesse Borrego). When her husband is arrested and she finds herself unprepared to support her family, determined to succeed she talks her way into a job with a record company and finds that she has a talent she was unaware of. The boys of the neighborhood tell her husband that she has a boyfriend, her new boss, and trouble starts between the two, leading to a major confrontation that changes their life to-gether. This is a vibrant tale of intercity passion and real-life choices.
LaserDisc Picture:
The matted1.82:1 transfer is sharp and detailed with vivid colors that really are eye-popping, natural fleshtones, deep blacks, ex-cellent shadow detail, and excellent contrast. A superb looking picture that suffers not from distracting artifacts or noise.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack features a lively music score with excellent fidelity and a sense of subtle surround, otherwise mono it is.
