Story Synopsis:
Before Sunrise is a lovely romantic tale infused with wit and humor. The story is about a single night in Vienna that is shared by a young couple who have just met on a Eurorail train. Jesse (Ethan Hawke) is a journalist from Texas, fresh from a broken romance. When he invites Celine (Julie Delpy), a French graduate student bound for Paris, to join him for an adventurous evening on the town, he knows full well that in the morning they must part forever. This film communicates a very realistic sense about how attraction works. Beautifully photographed on location in Vienna, this is a great “date movie,” even if your date is in your own home theatre.
LaserDisc Picture:
The matted 1.85:1 picture is unnatural and mediocre in appearance. Fleshtones are in-consistent. Images lack sharpness and detail for an overall soft look. Some noise is ap-parent throughout but the picture has no distracting artifacts.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The well recorded music score and ambient effects provide a subtle surround effect, but the dialogue is unnatural in-your-face ADR produced.
