WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
The Day After was originally produced as a telefilm which aired on ABC on November 20, 1983, making television history by becoming one of the most widely-watched and hotly debated features ever. This powerful drama portrays the devastating aftermath of a nuclear confrontation in a grimly realistic fashion. The film follows the ordinary activities of a number of residents of Law-rence, Kansas, whose lives are shattered when the escalating animosity between the U.S. and U.S.S.R. culminates in a nuclear attack.
LaserDisc Picture:
Credited as framed in the European theatrical 1.75:1 aspect ratio the actual frame is matted at 1.85:1. Artifacts are prominent throughout along with noise and grain. Fleshtones are inconsistent and the picture quality overall is mediocre.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The sound is undistinguished mono.
