WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
Caught is a steamy thriller about Nick (Arie Verveen), a drifter on the run from the cops who stops to live and work with Joe (Edward James Olmos) and Betty (Maria Conchita Alonso). With their own son Danny (Steven Schub) trying to make it as a stand-up comic in Hollywood, Nick becomes the son Betty and Joe have always wanted. A passionate affair emerges between Betty and Nick, and when Danny returns home with his wife, and in his rage and jealously, believes that the thief who stole his parents, is also stealing his wife!
LaserDisc Picture:
The re-composed 1.58:1 picture exhibits inconsistent color fidelity with generally natural fleshtones and deep blacks. Images are generally sharp and detailed with excellent shadow detail. Slight noise and minor artifacts are apparent throughout.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack’s subtle surround envelopment is supported by a well recorded jazz score that images nicely. Sound effects are generally produced in stereo with good directionality. Dialogue sounds natural and exhibits excellent spatial integration. Overall, the sound is naturally presented throughout and is sure to please.
