WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
Ghosts Of Mississippi is the true story that began with the death of NAACP civil rights activist Medgar Evers. After two hung juries and 30 years, Evers’ white supremacist killer, Byron De La Beckwith (James Woods), was still a free man. Once again Evers’ widow, Myrlie (Whoopi Goldberg), brings De La Beckwith face-to-face with his crime and its consequences with the dedicated help of ’93 Assistant D.A. Bobby DeLaughter (Alec Baldwin).
LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exhibits superb quality with sharp and detailed images. Color fidelity is excellent with natural fleshtones and deep blacks. This beautiful picture suffers from slight grain and noise is some scenes.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is beautifully produced with a rich music score that is dynamic and expansive with excellent soundstage imaging and depth. Bass extension is sometimes deep and powerful, reaching below 25Hz. Dialogue is sometimes natural sounding with excellent spatial integration, although most scenes are ADR-produced.
