WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
Nominated for five Academy Awards® and winner for Best Costume Design, The Facts Of Life is a delightful comedy about unexpected romance. Larry Gilbert (Bob Hope) and Kitty Weaver (Lucille Ball) find themselves vacationing alone when their spouses and a third couple drop out. Kitty—disappointed with her excessively gambling husband—finds Larry absurd and isn’t looking forward to being in his company. Larry—who’s wife is always too practical—feels the same about Kitty. But after only an afternoon fishing for marlin, they find themselves inexplicably drawn together. What Larry and Kitty originally considered bad luck causes them to reevaluate their marriages... for better or worse.
LaserDisc Picture:
The black and white picture exhibits a good grayscale with excellent contrast and shadow detail. Images are generally sharp and detailed, although sometimes wanting in a little more definition. There are occasionally distracting brightness changes. Slight noise is apparent, and artifacts and print scratches can be distracting. The aspect ratio is 1.66:1.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished and compressed monaural.
