WSR Narrative Review |
|
Story Synopsis:
With just the right amount of action and suspense for very young children, The Rescuers tells the sweet story of shy but brave Bernard the mouse (Newhart) and his glamorous little friend Miss Bianca (Gabor) who must rescue a little girl from the clutches of wicked Madame Medusa (Page). Based on the stories of Margery Sharp. And, yes, it’s safe for the kids to watch, now that those objectionable frames of a free-spirited young (non-animated) woman have been removed from the film.
LaserDisc Picture:
The animated picture exhibits excellent color fidelity. The images are sharp and detailed, though distracting noise is apparent throughout. There are no apparent video artifacts. Overall, the picture is generally pleasing. The aspect ratio measures 1.64:1.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is unistinguished monaural that sounds compressed with background noise
