Story Synopsis:
Dale Launer was inspired to write the original screenplay, Blind Date, after he experienced the actual embarrassing events that make up this very funny comedy. Bruce Willis stars as yuppie businessman Walter Davis, who takes a blind date to an important business dinner with his boss. Walter’s brother fixes him up with the beautiful Nadia Gates (Kim Basinger) who has zero alcohol tolerance. After one drink of champagne on a potentially perfect first date, Nadia becomes very bold, uninhibited and loud, and the chaos results with Walter in jail and her jealously psychotic ex-boyfriend, David Bedford (John Larroquette) defending him in court! Willis is hilariously funny on his hapless Blind Date with Basinger as the charming “date from hell.”
LaserDisc Picture:
The Panavision® scope frame has been cropped to 2.30:1. While fleshtones are generally natural colors are often oversaturated and appear inconsistent throughout. Shadow detail is poor and noise permeates as well.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a nicely recorded music score but there is background noise throughout and bass is wanting. While dialogue is unnaturally sibilant, spatial integration is often good. Surround envelopment is aggressive.
