WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
This unrated edition of Ken Russell’s 1984 dark, sexy and compelling thriller, Crimes Of Passion, stars Kathleen Turner living a dangerous double life as fashion designer Joanna Crane by day, and hooker China Blue by night. She is caught in a dark world of passion and danger, stalked by a perverse street preacher (Anthony Perkins), who sniffs stimulants, hangs out in peep shows and carries a bag of sex toys—including a kinky murder weapon. Crimes Of Passion is daring and provocative, but is not suitable for all viewers.
LaserDisc Picture:
The picture is matted at 1.85:1. Color fidelity is poor in some scenes with oversaturated colors and inconsistent fleshtones. Images are sharp and detailed with good shadow detail. The slightest noise is apparent but there are no artifacts.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is presented in undistinguished monaural, but worse, the sound is buried in hiss.
