Story Synopsis:
In Mallrats, the sophomore effort by the master of irreverent comedy, Kevin Smith, Brodie (Lee) and T.S. (London) are dumped by their girlfriends and go to all lengths to win them back. Seeking solace within the comfort of the local mall, the two friends elicit the help of their friends—those denizens of debauchery—Jay and Silent Bob (Jason Mewes & director, Smith) who turn the mecca of conspicuious consumerism—from the Cookie Hut to the Fashionable Male—upside down. Snoochie Boochie!
LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 matted transfer exhibits varying sharpness and detail and inconsistent color fidelity with slight noise and artifacts. Fleshtones are generally natural but some scenes appear washed-out, while other appear oversaturated.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack’s music score is bright sounding and predominantly mixed into the surrounds for an aggressive presence. The relationship of dialogue to effects is mismatched in level and dialogue has an in-your-face presence that is completely unnatural.
