Story Synopsis:
Heavy Metal is the animation classic based on original art and stories by Richard Corben, Angus McKie, Dan O’Bannon, Thomas Warkentin and Bernie Wrightson about a glowing green orb that spreads destruction throughout the galaxy. Songs from artists including Black Sabbath, Devo, Stevie Nicks and Journey are featured.
LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture exhibits vibrant colors and deep solid blacks. Noise is apparent in the darker scenes and there are serious artifacts, but the picture is sharp and detailed with good contrast.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack provides a very loud presence with fidelity on the bright side. The standard reference level is exceeded and dialogue is “manufactured” sounding. Surround is aggressive with powerful bass extension reaching below 25Hz.
