WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
Multiplicity is the cloning comedy based on the short story by Chris Miller. Doug Kinney (Michael Keaton), an overworked, over-stressed contractor is offered the perfect solution—a clone to share the load. Even with Doug 2, Doug feels he doesn’t have any personal time, so he gets another clone. But when 2 and 3 get antsy, they clone 4 out of 2—creating a not-so-clear copy of a copy.
LaserDisc Picture:
The framed 2.35:1 picture exhibits fully saturated colors, natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks. Sharpness and detail is inconsistent, but shadow detail is excellent with good contrast. There is slight noise, but no artifacts.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is wonderfully dimensional with an aggressive holosonic presence. Dialogue is ADR-produced with a “manufactured” presence that draws attention to itself. Sound effects are often produced in stereo with ambiant effects providing subtle surround envelopment and solid bass response
