WSR Narrative Review |

Story Synopsis:
Good Morning Vietnam is the critically acclaimed uproarious comedy that won Robin Williams an Oscar® nomination. When Adrian Cronauer (Williams) arrives in Saigon, he is a wisecracking disc jockey who wakes the GIs in the morning with rapid-fire humor and hits from back home. The hot-headed Army brass is up in arms over his anti-establishment tone on the otherwise staid, sanitized airwaves. But when he witnesses the seriousness of a world gone mad, the smile on Cronauer’s face becomes a casualty of war.
LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.82:1, exhibits good color fidelity with fully saturated colors, natural fleshtones and deep blacks. There are inconsistencies in image sharpness, some scenes being very hazy. There is slight noise and minor artifacts apparent.
LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack sounds dated and not particularly well produced though dialogue generally sounds natural with good spatial integration. Surround is sometimes aggressive, but the stereo imaging is pulled toward the center. Overall, fidelity and spatial dimension is wanting.
